Learning to Lament: Psalm 77

When life is hard and God seems silent, it can make you wonder if he really cares or if he is even there. In the middle of pain and heartache, learning to lament protects our heart from the temptation to cynicism and unbelief and opens the door to deeper intimacy with God instead.

There is an elephant in the room. In other words, there is an obvious problem or difficult situation that is not seen clearly and is uncomfortable addressing. Money – what you do with it and how generous you are with it – is the elephant in the Corinthian church room as well ours this morning. God’s word helps us to
talk about the uncomfortable and by God’s grace become people who joyfully excel in grace driven, Christ magnifying generosity.

Transparency, accountability and trust are crucial for any gospel ministry partnership to be effective. Where these things are absent or broken, relationships and reputations can be damaged. In our passage today, we learn how the Apostle Paul provided ‘offering management’ in such a way that trust is built, God is glorified, and the church’s reputation is guarded.
