We are a community of disciple-makers towards the Great Commission, which means we view outreach not just as good deeds, but as an opportunity to proclaim Christ and to share the gospel with others. Often times, those opportunities come through meeting physical needs. But we recognize that all people have a greater spiritual need. Therefore, to truly love people is to help meet physical needs while introducing them to the only One who can meet their spiritual need.

Engage

Engage is a Kossuth ministry that responds to needs in the lives of vulnerable children and the people around them. 

 

Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world. (James 1:27, ESV)

Foster Fun Night: 

On these evenings we serve foster and adoptive families by building relationships and having fun with their children while parents can have a night off. We play games, do crafts, feed the kids, and typically send the parents out for the night with a gift card for dinner or coffee on us. This is a great way to encourage the kids and their parents and develop relationships with returning families.

The Care Closet

Engage has a clothing and resource closet available to the vulnerable families in our community, including foster/adoptive families and at-risk or struggling families.

  1. Sort and organize the Care Closet by folding and organizing clothes and other resources
  2. Donate for Foster Fun Nights; food, gift cards, and prizes for the kids are all welcome.
  3. Voluneer for Foster Fun Nights by interacting with the kids. Background check is required.
  4. Provide childcare or babysit.
  5. Make a meal or bring dessert or a snack to a fostering, adoptive, or at-risk family. 
  6. Give a ride to an appointment or activity.
  7. Help with car repair, house repair, or yardwork.
  8. Help with a load of dishes or laundry.
  9. Help with all of the above.

Senior Adult Services

Join members of Kossuth in serving the residents of assisted living homes in the Lafayette area. Help is needed to preach, lead worship and engage with residents.
