Though doctrine of the Holy Spirit tends to be a controversial topic in many circles, it's clear from Scripture that we are to be filled with the Holy Spirit - that is, to experience the fullness of God and be empowered to live a life glorifying to him. For many people, being filled with the Spirit doesn’t go beyond his indwelling at conversion. However, Scripture makes a distinction between this initial work of the Spirit and the command to continually “be filled.” In his prayer for the Ephesian church, Paul asks for one thing – that they would be strengthened with power through the Holy Spirit. Everything else in his prayer hinges on this main idea of power in the Holy Spirit. The climax of the prayer is that they would be filled with all the fullness of God.

What are the Marks of Being Filled with the Holy Spirit?

In the book of Acts, we see a pattern of people who are filled with the Holy Spirit, living empowered lives, which are radically different from the world, to the glory of God. That pattern gives us some marks, distinctives of being filled with the Holy Spirit.
