From Local Impact to Global Mission: Embracing Perspectives in Children's Ministries

By Mikel Berger

I’ve had many conversations with those who have the potential to serve long-term in missions. When asked what I recommend they do next, I always suggest two things. First, take the Perspectives class. This course is a unique opportunity to learn about God’s plan for spreading the fame of Jesus. Second, start serving in the room with the highest number of unbelievers. Our children's classes. The Perspectives class will give you a deeper understanding of God's global mission. You'll be better prepared to serve your local community.

Understanding God's Global Plan

Over 15 weeks, Perspectives covers the Biblical basis for missions, explores mission history, looks at cultural issues, and plans for the future of missions. But more than that, Perspectives calls us to action. It challenges us to find our unique role in God's global plan.

Reaching Unbelievers in Our Church

At Kossuth Street Baptist Church, our children's ministries are crucial in sharing the Gospel. In the busy rooms downstairs, we meet young hearts eager to learn about God's love. Just as Jesus welcomed children, we can share the Gospel with these young souls in our church. Your involvement in these ministries can greatly impact their spiritual journey.

Applying What We Learn

As we learn from Perspectives, let's use these ideas in our children's ministries:

-  Cultural Sensitivity: Treat children from different backgrounds with respect and understanding. Recognize their unique perspectives.

-  Evangelism and Discipleship: Share the Gospel clearly and sincerely. Help young believers grow in their faith

Preparing for Global Missions

The skills and experiences we gain here will help us face cross-cultural challenges. Our involvement is not just about us—it's about the church’s future, locally and globally.

Join Us

As we look forward to the Perspectives class, let's promise to put what we have learned into action in our children's ministries. Let's take this chance to plant seeds of faith, help disciples grow, and build a community that shows God's love. We are preparing for a global mission that will change lives forever by starting here in our church. Let's answer the call to share the Gospel, starting downstairs in the basement with our children and reaching out to the ends of the earth.
