"I'm against sin.  I'll kick it as long as I've got a foot, and I'll fight it as long as I've got a fist.  I'll butt it as long as I've got a head.  I'll bite it as long as I've got a tooth.  And when I'm old and fistless and footless and toothless, I'll gum it till I go home to Glory and it goes home to perdition!"  ~ Billy Sunday (via Trevin Wax)

  • Builders ABF - We're on week 2 of our series on idolatry, looking at the idol of love by studying Jacob and Leah.  Mikel Berger has posted some resources on the Builders Blog to help you review last Sunday and prepare for this Sunday.
  • Corporate Worship - Pastor Whipple is back in the pulpit, and he'll be preaching from Philippians 3:17-4:1.  Read it a few times to prepare, and pray that God would encourage you to stand firm in the Lord!

Bebo Norman in Concert

It looks like Bebo Norman is coming to Lafayette!  Here's the info:
"Habitat for Humanity of Lafayette is hosting a concert featuring Bebo Norman, Sunday, February 21st at 6pm.  The concert will be held at First Assembly, 108 Beck Lane, Lafayette.

Bebo is a singer/songwriter, Dove award winner, husband and father of two.  Some of his noted songs include: “I Will Lift My Eyes”, “Never Saw You Coming”, “Pull Me Out”, “Great Light of the World”.

Of his last self-titled album, the media wrote: 'Bebo Norman has built a reputation as one of the Christian community’s most insightful singer/songwriters, one likely to increase with this self-titled effort. This collection marks Norman’s debut for Seattle-based BEC Recordings, and it feels like the beginning of a vibrant new chapter in an already distinguished career.'   (Billboard)

'It’s amazing how simplicity can envelop an album into a masterpiece. The fact is, Bebo Norman surpassed all of his past material with this brilliant masterpiece!' (Musicfaith)
If you're interested, tickets are on sale at the Habitat office or online at http://lafayettehabitat.org.

Big Red Tractor

Here's a great little video that illustrates this basic truth: human skill and effort doesn't power the church; the Holy Spirit does.  When he is empowering the church, much more will be accomplished.

Learn to Snag Stuff with a Whip

Are you short on skills?  Here's a tutorial on how to develop your whip-cracking ability.  In case you're about to ignore this fine instructional guide, think on this:
"There are few tools that can break the sound barrier while fetching the TV remote.  But throw a whip right and its tip can travel 900 mph (producing a sonic boom), then curl back to snare the object of your desire."

A Prayer of Martin Luther

"Behold, Lord, an empty vessel that needs to be filled.
My Lord, fill it.
I am week in the faith; strengthen me.
I am cold in love; warm me and make me fervent, that my love may go out to my neighbor.
I do not have a strong and firm faith; at times I doubt and am unable to trust you altogether.  O Lord, help me.  Strengthen my faith and trust in you.
In you I have sealed the treasure of all I have.
I am poor; you are rich and came to be merciful to the poor.
I am a sinner; you are upright.
With me, there is an abundance of sin; in you is the fullness of righteousness.
Therefore I will remain with you, of whom I can receive, but to whom I may not give.
Amen."
