[Here's a longer quote for you, one that fits well with our class theme and last week's message . . .]
"You and I are not integrated, unified, whole persons. Our hearts are multi-divided. There is a board room in every heart. Big table. Leather chairs. Coffee. Bottled water. Whiteboard. A committee sits around the table. There is the social self, the private self, the work self, the sexual self, the recreational self, the religious self, and others. The committee is arguing and debating and voting. Constantly agitated and upset. Rarely can they come to a unanimous, wholehearted decision. We tell ourselves we're this way because we're so busy with so many responsibilities. The truth is, we're just divided, unfocused, hesitant, unfree.
That kind of person can 'accept Jesus' in either of two ways. One way is to invite him onto the committee. Give him a vote too. But then he becomes just one more complication. The other way to 'accept Jesus' is to say to him, 'My life isn't working. Please come in and fire my committee, every last one of them. I hand myself over to you. Please run my whole life for me.' That is not complication; that is salvation."
'Accepting Jesus' is not just adding Jesus. It is also subtracting idols (1 Thess. 1:9)." ~ Ray Ortlund

The Revis Family Now Has 4!
On Tuesday morning at 8 AM, Emma Revis made her grand entrance into the world. Weighing in at 7lbs4oz and measuring 20in, she is healthy and doing well. Benj and Arwen are doing great, and they would like visitors! Don't hesitate to give them a call and go hang out a bit with them (in that order - call
then hang out).
They are doing okay with meals, although they have some more spots to fill. If you can help out, here's the info for their care calendar:

2 Meal Service Opportunities
These are great opportunities for you to flex your service/cooking/cleaning/hosting/relational muscles for the sake of Christ and becoming like him:
- HGCF Meals - here's a note from Donna Wilkinson. We'd like to head up at least one of these meals as a class. If interested in taking leadership, please contact me. Read below:
KSBC is again partnering with HGCF to host Family Night at 5:30 on Tuesday night for 8 weeks beginning February 2. We are seeking small groups to prepare dinner for 30-40 parents and children. The families will eat, and then attend parenting classes while the children will participate in activities planned by HGCF. ABF members are welcome to join the families during the activities, or are free to leave after clean-up. Please ask your ABF to prayerfully consider providing a meal for these families.
We are hoping that some of you might be willing to come each week, eat with the families, and stay for the evening interacting with the children and parents. Since the group providing dinner changes each week, we would like to have some individuals who will consistently be there each Tuesday. You could hang out with the children or sit in on the parenting classes. Nothing is required other than fellowship. This is an excellent opportunity to get to know these families, and for them to get to know KSBC.
If you are interested in this ministry, please let me know.
Serving together,
Donna Wilkinson
- Progressive Dinner - the college groups is having a progressive dinner, and they need someone to open their home for the soup/salad course. The college students are fun - you don't want to miss out on this opportunity! If you can open your home but you're not too keen on cooking, some people have already volunteered to make the food if someone else could offer their home. If you're interested, contact Magan Wenger at meg.wenger@gmail.com
